What’s New in Birding in Ohio
Hotspot Pages all now have a new format
A major conversion of hotspot pages to the new format of the Birding in Ohio website is complete! In doing such a conversion, it is easy to make a mistake or two. If you notice any errors, broken links, or surprising results, please send info to firstname.lastname@example.org. I will gladly make corrections.
New eBird Hotspots
Haver Ridge Metro Park
Thanks to Bob Sams and Mandy Roberts for suggesting that we add this newly opened Metro Park as a hotspot and thanks to Bob for providing a photo for the page.
Jackson Township Park
Thanks to Bob Sams for suggesting this township park as a hotspot and for providing a photo and tips for birding.
Zimmerman Prairie State Nature Preserve
Zimmerman Prairie is no longer limited to access by permit only. Added a map showing where to park to walk .25 mile on the bike path to the prairie.
Black River Whart Boat Launch
Thanks to Patty McKelvey for providing a photo of the sign at this hotspot.
Killbuck Lakes Park–West
The pond adjacent to the Lodi Outlet Mall, which was formerly a separate hotspot, is within the Killbuck Lakes Park and a trail has been added in the park which circles the pond. We have merged the checklists from this former hotspot into the hotspot for this park.
Vinton Furnace State Forest
Vinton Furnace State Forest–North
Vinton Furnace State Forest–Raccoon Ecological Management Area
Vinton Furnace State Forest was previously named an “Experimental Forest.” Adjusted the names of the hotspots to match the current status as a State Forest.
This week the new Birding in Ohio page design has been applied to hotspots in several counties.
