Overton Road Wooster, Ohio 44691

About this Location

There are four ponds along this section of Overton Road, all on private property, but the ponds may be viewed from the road. Overton Road can be busy at times.

  • The northernmost pond (labeled Mower Lake on Google maps) often holds ducks, geese, and wading birds. There is a fish hatchery pond on the edge of this pond.
  • The next pond south, just south of Smithville-Western Road, is deeper and can attract gulls and at times Bald Eagles fish there. Please do not pull into the driveways by the pond. The land owner has asked birders not to use them.
  • The next pond south is owned by a private club and is difficult to view from the road. Birders can circle this pond by turning east on McAfee Road. McAfee Road turns south and tees on Flickinger Hill Road. Turn west and return to Overton Road.
  • There is a pull-off on the east side of Overton Road at the southernmost pond.
