About Western Reserve Greenway Trail
The Trumbull County portion of the Western Reserve Greenway extends 14.65 miles from the Ashtabula County border to Champion Street East in Bloomfield, Bristol, and Champion Townships. The Greenway uses the former Penn Central 714 rail line, with a ten-feet wide paved surface for bicyclists and walkers. Running parallel to OH-45 and approximately .75-mile to the east, the Western Reserve Greenway is part of the Great Ohio Lake-to-River Greenway, planned to run from Lake Erie to the Ohio River through four Ohio counties.

Two trailheads named for 19th and early 20th-century communities provide parking, restrooms and picnic facilities. Sunside Trailhead is at OH-305 in Champion Township, and Oakfield Trailhead is at Hyde-Oakfield Road in Bristol Township.

Bicycling, walking and inline skating are the primary Greenway activities. Others include nature observation and horseback riding on non-paved surfaces. Winter activities include cross-country skiing. Several picnic tables and grills are available at trailheads. Benches are located at various spots along the Greenway. Portable restrooms are at the trailheads year round. Handicapped parking spots are available in the paved parking areas.
