There are two parking lots at the north end of the park on West Maple Street and one at the south end of the park on Glenwood Street Southwest. Each parking lot has places for at least 20 cars. Most of the athletic facilities, such as tennis courts and a softball diamond, are close to the north parking lots. The lots are paved. They are often crowded in good weather.
The mile-long walking path is level and paved, and is handicapped-accessible from all parking lots. It roughly forms a figure eight through the park, centered on a bridge over the creek. The path is very popular, and is especially well-used in daylight hours when the weather is good.
The park is in the floodplain of Zimber Ditch, the creek that runs through the park. The habitat is predominantly mowed green grass with some large trees. There are a couple of small wooded areas along the path. The wooded area in the southwest corner of the northern loop of the path is a good place to search for birds. There are also many visible backyard bird feeders. Next to one of the north parking lots on West Maple there is a pond with a gazebo. This pond attracts Canada Geese and Mallards year round.
An area designated by Stark Parks as a Conservation Buffer Zone is just east and across the creek from the south parking lot on Glenwood. It features grasslands transitioning to prairie habitat.
