About Kinnikinnick Wildlife Area
Kinnikinnick Wildlife Area is mostly forested land with access to the Scioto River and is located in Ross County, 6 miles north of the city of Chillicothe on the west side of US-23.
Kinnikinnick Wildlife Area was acquired by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Wildlife in 2007 from the Scioto Land Company. This property was previously owned by MeadWestvaco and managed to supply wood fiber to MeadWestvaco paper mill in Chillicothe, Ohio.
Recreational opportunities include whitetail deer, gray squirrel, waterfowl, and cottontail rabbit hunting. The Scioto River corridor also provides excellent bird watching potential for observing bald eagle activity as well as many migratory bird species.
