In summer, Dickcissels, Henslow’s Sparrows, and Grasshopper Sparrows have been seen along with the expected Meadowlarks, Common Yellowthroats, and more. In winter Short-eared Owls are seen regularly. Ring-necked Pheasants are quite common in this area.
The entire length of River Drive provides excellent birding. There are extensive grasslands along this road. There is also a wetland on River Drive north of Radcliff Road which is worth checking.
If you visit Charlies Pond, River Drive is an excellent additional place to view birds.
