Tips for Birding

Mary Virginia Crites Hannan Park has about 70 acres. Twenty-two acres is woodland with trails. It has a created wetland that has produced some good waterfowl birding, dabblers, divers and waders, and shorebirds. There is an observation deck at the edge of the wetland pond. The wetland dries up in the summer if there is not much rain. Much of the grassland area has been planted with prairie species and wildflowers. There is a 1.2-mile paved walking track around the grassland area. Bluebird boxes have been erected and are monitored. There is parking off of OH-188 and off of Pontious Road.
