About Sunsite Lake
Sunsite Lake is located on East River Road in the Dayton suburb of Moraine. It is a long, narrow lake nestled between and parallel to the Great Miami River and I-75. On East River Road there are several gravel pull offs to watch birds on the lake on one side and among the trees and bushes on the other. There are also several small colored floats that the Dayton Rowing Club (DRC) uses as lane markers. The DRC storage facility is on E. River Road.
The lake attracts the usual suspects year round: Canada Geese, Herring Gulls, and Ring-billed Gulls. During the winter, Redheads and Canvasback use the lake. Glaucous and Iceland Gulls have been known to visit yearly. Snow Bunting are sometimes seen along the edge of the road.
