Tips for birding Gilliland Nature Sanctuary
Gilliland Nature Sanctuary consists of both prairie and woodland habit throughout the area. Great Horned Owls can occasionally be seen or heard early in the morning or late in the evening. During migration, large numbers of Sparrows and Warblers can be seen throughout the area. Fall migration in particular is very good with large numbers of sparrows throughout the prairie habitat. There is a small parking lot on the west side of the park with several trails going through the entire area.
