The 2.8-acre Sheffield Lake Community Park is on US-6 (Lake Road) in the city of Sheffield Lake at the northwest terminus of Lake Breeze Road. The park is adjacent to the west of Sheffield Lake’s Domonkas Branch Public Library. Beginning in 2007, the city received $865,000 in grants from the ODNR divisions of Wildlife and Watercraft for major park renovations that improved boating access.
A handicap accessible fishing pier in a large “L” shape protects the park’s new two-lane boat launch for small craft (up to 30 feet). Overnight public parking for cars and trailers is available at the park as well as in the city-owned plaza on the south side of US-6.
The pier, along with additional shore structures to the west, provides fishing access. The park’s upper mowed-grass area includes picnic tables overlooking Lake Erie. Fronting this area is a handicap accessible paved concrete boardwalk that extends from the west side of the boat launch to the western edge of the park property.
The park’s foot-friendly sand beach extends east of the fishing pier along Lake Erie. There are no lifeguards on duty; swimming at one’s own risk is allowed.
Community Park’s parking lot includes two small wind turbines. The park is along the Back Roads & Beaches Bike Trail, which follows US-6 in Lorain County.
No restroom facilities.
