There are two pullouts along Russia Road near Oberlin Road (west end of the airport) that are safe to park in and from which you can scope almost the whole field through the fence. It’s a great place for winter raptors.

This is intended as a public service announcement related to the Short-eared Owls at the Lorain County Airport. There have been a couple of instances of people entering the airport property. The group assembled on 3/22/17 observed such an occurrence. The offending party was asked to leave. Later on, an employee of the airport approached our group which was hanging out near one of the access gates. We were told that the management of the airport property is growing tired of unauthorized personnel entering the property. We were told the next one who did would be detained until the sheriff arrived. We were also told that this could result in NO one being allowed to park along the various access points as is currently permitted.
