Tips for birding The Ohio State University at Newark Campus
On the west side of University Drive, across from the Warner Building, there is a sewage drain where waterfowl and occasional shorebirds and waders like to gather. It probably won’t freeze, which will make it even better later in the winter. Another good spot is the pond that is right in the center of the campus. There are several areas with patches of trees, ideal for spring and fall migrants. You can often see hawks and vultures scanning the area from up above.
There are many visitor parking lots around campus. The most convenient parking is on the west side of University Drive, across from the Warner Building. It is a short walk from there to the sewage drain and to the center of campus.
