The Wellston Environmental Trail is being developed by teachers and students at Wellston High School. Students have mapped and cut out the trail location and are improving the habitat to increase the variety of flora and fauna in the area. The location is an old strip mine that has been left to return to a secondary growth forest.

Parking is available at the high school lot or the softball fields area. It is a short walk to the trailhead.
