Wakeman Community Park has a paved path through a mowed area with some trees. There is parking in the northwest section of the park and at the corner of South Railroad Street and East Main Street. To the east of this corner, a footbridge crosses the Vermilion River and leads to more natural bird habitat.

A freshwater pond surrounded by mowed and plowed fields and treeline also provide opportunities for viewing waterfowl, field birds, warblers, woodpeckers and more.
