About Johnson Hills Park
Johnson Hills Park consists of 136 acres of rolling hills and wooded terrain. One unique aspect of Johnson Park is the past residence of William McNeilan Johnson and his wife Marian B. Johnson. This beautiful historic home has a myriad of possible uses, however, further study is needed to determine feasibility.
Possible park amenities in the future include picnic shelters, gardens, rustic camping cabins, nature observation areas, improved nature trails, frisbee golf, and a facility that might house the children’s day camp programs, nature education, and provide rental income from parties and events.
Improvements on the Johnson Property will first include the creation of paved access roadways and necessary infrastructure development. The final plan for Johnson Park will include components that have revenue-generating capabilities to pay for the construction and maintenance of the new park.
Start at the official head of Little Dry Run Creek, cross the meadow and follow the Red Bud Trail through the wooded terrain. More trail and park development in progress. Dogs are permitted on the trail. 1.2 miles of nature trail and meadow.
