Tips for birding Green Township Bike and Walk Trail
The Green Township Bike and Walk Trail was created in Oct 2018. It was a former CSX train track. It is 13 feet wide and paved. It can be accessed 3 ways:
+ Hutchinson Road — 8 parking spaces 1 handicap
+ Behind Harrison Green strip center — about 15 to 20 spaces
+ On gravel behind stores and Oakdale School — about 10 to 20 parking spaces
It is very close to a main west side road, Harrison Avenue, but it is heavily buffered by trees on both sides. I have added many photos to the trail webpage. Scope is really not needed. There is a pair of Red-shouldered Hawks that consistently fly close to the trail. Other sightings are many Woodpeckers, Turkey Vultures, Nuthatch and Mockingbirds as well as Cardinals, Robins, and others.
