The narrow winding road through Fairview Park is lined with many tall evergreens and sycamores, providing the feeling of being in a forest in the middle of an urban area. The park offers a fantastic view of the Cincinnati skyline, Union Terminal, and a distant view of the Ohio River. You can travel in your car for a mile and enjoy the continuous panoramic view of the city, or you can venture out and enjoy the stonewall overlook area that was built by the Federal Works Projects Administration. With picnic tables nestled in the wooded hillside, it is a pleasant place to have a picnic and spend the afternoon. The park also features a playground for the kids, a basketball court, and a soccer field. Fairview Park was founded in 1931 by the Cincinnati Park Board. According to reports, the property was formerly the site of stone quarries and a lime kiln. You can also visit an old, sealed wine cellar in the hill adjoining the scenic drive.
