About Patch Road
Patch Road traverses privately owned properties. Please view birds from the roadside only.
This road, particularly from OH-168 going east, has been the winter hotspot for raptors in Geauga County, surpassing Hayes Road the last two years. During winter 2019-2020 many winter raptors were observed with regularity including: Rough-legged, Red-tailed, and Red-shouldered Hawks; Northern Harrier; breeding pair of American Kestrels; occasional flyover of Bald Eagle and Short-eared Owls at dusk. Less common but making an occasional appearance are Sharp-shinned and Cooper’s Hawks. It is one of the least traveled roads by car or buggy, making it one of the safest for birders.
