Tips for birding Derby Hill
The soap box car races are held at Derby Hill, but it also good for birding. Park in the southernmost parking lot of Big Run Park and walk east toward Derby Hill. The road is forested and then it opens up to Derby Hill and there are some small wet prairie-like areas in addition to the trees of the park’s forest. One could also combine this excursion with a saunter along the trail that runs south from the park road just east of the southernmost parking lot.
