Tips for birding Sycamore Run Park
Sycamore Run Park is primarily for access to the Olentangy River. There is a large parking lot with a kiosk that provides maps and boating information. The parking lot is surrounded by a meadow with lots of native wildflowers. Sparrows, finches and Common Yellowthroats were active there. The meadow and river are separated by woods, providing diverse habitats that could yield a variety of birds. Herons should be abundant since the heron rookery at Smith Preserve on Taggart Road is just north of there.
