Overlooking beautiful Lake Erie on Lake Road (OH-531) is “Al Cummings Sunset Park”. The park was named after our former Street Commissioner, Al Cummings. He was the developer of the park along with his hard working crew.
Sunset Park is open daily from dawn to dusk, a playground area is provided along with a pavilion and picnic tables (No reservations taken on this Pavilion).
From North Kingsville Parks and Recreation
The 17.4-acre Al Cummings Sunset Park is located on land north of OH-531 (West Lake Road) with the park’s entrance and parking area 0.4 miles east of the OH-193 (North Main Street) intersection in North Kingsville.
This site includes partially-shaded mowed-grass green space and a lush wooded area. The gravel parking lot is accessible from a crescent-shaped drive off of OH-531. The park’s picnic shelter is adjacent to the parking area. Additional picnic tables are scattered throughout the park overlooking Lake Erie.
The top of the park’s bluff is marked by a wooden split rail fence. This area of the coast has experienced significant erosion, and there is no beach at the base of the bluff. Due to the dangers of traversing the bluff and lack of amenities at the bottom, public access lakeward of the fence is prohibited.
Additional park amenities include playground equipment and natural trails leading through the woods. The Village Green Golf Course of North Kingsville is located on land south of OH-531 across from the park.
