Notable Trails

The Blue Bridle Trail has three access points with formal parking areas:

  • The bridle staging area off of OH-97 near the entrance to the Memorial Shrine
  • Township Road 3286 parking area
  • Township Road 3234 parking area

When accessing the trail via the parking lot on Township Road 3234, if you enter Township Road 3234 from OH-97 there is a fairly steep hill that you will need to climb which may be difficult for non-4×4 vehicles in rainy conditions. Access from County Road 3275 is flatter and kinder for non-4×4 vehicles. The road is only paved at junctions with the main roads but dirt sections are relatively smooth and don’t have major potholes or large rocks. The parking lot on Township Road 3234 is somewhat small, with enough space for three vehicles at most. Trail access is from the south side of the road. The bridle staging area is expansive, to accommodate horse trailers. If parking there, try to park out of the way so that these large vehicles can fit.

Trail conditions and difficulty vary; it’s a long, winding trail with some steep areas requiring greater physical fitness but overall it is a well-marked trail that can be maneuvered by horses. As such, it’s perhaps easier than other trails in the forest.
