What’s New in Birding in Ohio

New eBird Hotspots

Hamilton County
Kuliga Park
Thanks to Brian Wulker for suggesting this hotspot.

Miami County
River’s Edge Wildlife Preserve
Thanks to Carlton Schooley for suggesting this hotspot.

Warren County
Landen Farm Lake
Thanks to Brady FitzGerald for suggesting this hotspot.

Athens County
Woodcock Nature Preserve
At the request of the management we have removed (restricted access) from the name of this hotspot. The preserve is now open to visits to birders without a reservation. The preserve may be closed during deer hunting season. To respect privacy, please avoid getting close to the two houses, occupied by renters, in the northern and central parts of the preserve.

Cuyahoga County
Cleveland Hopkins Airport–The Aviator Restaurant Parking Lot
Changed the name of the restaurant from “100th Bomb Group” to “The Aviator.” This parking lot provides the only safe place to view birds on the runway of Cleveland Hopkins Airport.

Erie County
Resthaven Wildlife Area–Castalia Prairie
We have renamed this hotspot to be Castalia Prairie instead of Carson Pass Road. The prairie, on Carson Pass Road which is also the Sandusky-Erie county line, is in Erie County.

Stark County
Middle Branch Trail–Easton Street to Market Street Tunnel
Thanks to Brady Higginbotham for providing a description of this trail and tips for birding.
